Yellow Rose, Subang Jaya

Nikon D3s c. 2010
Flowers have always been depicted as fresh and vibrant with so much light. As in everything else, there is the day and there is the night. There is the black and there is the white. I prefer to capture the flower in a much more sombre look, because the flower has many uses, one of which is to brighten a room, another to give a loved one, another as a gift and the last other, as a gift for the dead. I can understand the first three uses, because the flower provokes happiness from the receipient but I cannot understand how the dead can appreciate the gift. So, in so doing, is it a gift to placate the giver?
